Where Do Ingredients in Nature’s Logic Pet Food Come From?

We often get questions from conscientious pet parents that want to know more about the ingredients we use in Nature’s Logic® 100% natural food for dogs and cats. This is understandable, especially in light of the nearly steady stream of pet food recalls in the industry these days. Most pet food recalls that have occurred over the past ten years have been due to either pathogenic bacteria contamination, like salmonella or e. coli, or due to synthetic additives, such as melamine (synthetic protein) or a man-made vitamin or mineral. Nature’s Logic takes many specific steps to ensure the safety of our pet foods.

Ingredients from Qualified Suppliers & Reputable Countries

Nature’s Logic selects vendors that can supply ingredients from the USA and other countries with good food safety practices, such as New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Europe. We
also require that our vendors can guarantee that the ingredients do not come from China, and that they are tested to be GMO-free and contain no chemical preservatives, herbicides, or insecticides.

For example, below is a list of our protein sources and the countries that supply them. All are antibiotic- and hormone-free:
·         Chicken (Raw) – Nebraska, USA
·         Chicken (Dry) – Colorado, USA
·         Chicken (Can) – Arkansas, USA
·         Beef (Can) – Arkansas, USA
·         Beef (Raw) – Nebraska, USA
·         Beef (Dry) – Arkansas, USA
·         Lamb (Dry & Can) – New Zealand
·         Rabbit (Raw) – New Zealand and USA
·         Rabbit (Dry & Can) – Italy and France
·         Duck (Dry & Can) – USA
·         Salmon (Dry & Can) – USA and Norway
·         Sardine Oil -Norway

Manufactured in Human-Grade Facilities and Tested

Nature’s Logic avoids potential quality and contamination problems in two key ways. First, we source and purchase all of our own ingredients, instead of allowing our manufacturing partners to make those decisions. Second, we use meats, poultry, fish, fruits, and vegetables that come from human-edible processing facilities. All our manufacturing plants are registered with the US Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration. They are all AIB Certified¹ and several are EU (European Union) Certified.

Nature’s Logic also tests every batch of food to ensure that it meets our specifications. In addition, our ingredients and finished foods are tested to ensure there are no harmful bacteria, like Salmonella or E. coli. They are also tested for potential rancidity, aflatoxins, and vomitoxins. The company has also done random testing for fluoride.

Contain NO Chemically-synthesized Ingredients

Nature's Logic has created the first and only full-line kibble, canned, and raw frozen pet food in the world with no chemically-synthesized ingredients. Our foods provide pets with essential and complete nutrition using only whole foods and 100% natural ingredients. All other commercial dry, canned, and even some raw foods add as many as 20 to 26 chemically- synthesized vitamins, minerals and amino acids. We never add man-made nutrients so pets are not exposed to the potential toxicities associated with these chemical substances.
Nature’s Logic is committed to providing the highest quality and safest nutrition for your dogs and cats. We go above and beyond what other pet food companies do to ensure your pets receive the very best. For more information about our raw frozen, canned and dry foods, visit www.natureslogic.com.

What other questions can we answer about our ingredients and safety processes?

  1. I have a question. What is the nutritional benefit of Montmorillonite clay? It ranges anywhere from the 3rd to the 7th ingredient listed in your dog and cat dry, canned, frozen raw food, treats and food fortifier. My understanding is that it's an additive listed by AAFCO as an anti-caking agent. But one would think that because it's in all your products and so high up on the ingredient panel that you include it for some health benefit. Could you share your thoughts on that? Thanks.

  2. You are correct, it is added as a natural anti-caking agent. That is why Nature's Logic puts it in our food. It avoids chemical agents used for the same purpose and is just one of the reasons our foods are truly 100% natural.
